Heritage Open Days

September 12-21 2025

The annual celebration of UK history and culture returns, with more events than ever to enjoy in Southport town centre and the surrounding area.

Discover a glimpse of Nevill Street's hidden past by visit The Lost Street 3D artwork (pictured).  Enjoy a guided tour of the Prince of Wales Hotel or a history walks that take in Lord Street and Kings Gardens.

Coastal Jam

13-14 September 2025

The first Coastal Jam festival promises two fun-filled days of live music and family activities, with live music stages and a host of performances at bars and venues across the town centre.

On Saturday, enjoy a street-party atmosphere on Market Street (adjacent to Southport Market), with an outdoor stage, record fair, street, and kids activities.

On Sunday, a spectacular stage show at the Town Hall Gardens is perfect for the whole family!  Expect great live music, food and drink from local traders, and kids crafts and workshops inside The Atkinson.

24-Hour Yacht Race

The Marine Lake, Southport

September 13-14 2025

The famous dinghy race Is a huge draw for sailing fanatics from across the UK, with over 500 competitors taking part and spectators from all corners of the UK attending.

West Lancashire Yacht Club host the event, which tasks competitors with a 24-hour race around a large section of the beautiful Marine Lake.  Teams race against the elements throughout the day and night in a true test of skill and endurance.

Fun for Petrol Heads!

September 13-14

The Southport Classic and Speed (pictured) returns on Saturday September 13, with parades and themed displays celebrating our town's record breaking motorsport heritage.

A day later on Sunday 14 September, Great British Motor Shows arrives at Victoria Park, featuring hundreds of cars, bikes, and commercials, as well as trade stands, autojumble, and displays.

Musical Fireworks

September 27-28 2025

The sky above Southport will come alive with displays from some of the world’s best pyrotechnic teams at the British Musical Fireworks Championship.

Expect dazzling firework displays synchronised to music, delicious street food, and children's activities.
