Joel Thompson's case for calling Southport home
Lynn Thompson Sales and Lettings is a family business in the truest sense on the word.
Brothers Joel and Oliver Thompson are overseeing a second generation of success as the Southport firm celebrates twenty years of business in 2025.
The property agents deal with residential sales, lettings, leasehold property management, and holiday flats, with properties located across Southport and the wider region.
Company Director Joel spends much of his time selling Southport to those who are considering a move to the North West. He values the safety, community, and the wellbeing aspects of life in our coastal town.
“Southport has a lot to offer people who are looking for a nice, affordable family life.
“Over twenty miles of coastline. Golf courses. There’s plenty of parks, nice walks. The Pinewoods (in Ainsdale) is a perfect place to spend an afternoon.

Joel gave special mentions to two of his favourite Italian restaurants, Pizzeria Mamma Mia and Volare.
“You're never too far away from a nice restaurant or a nice bar or, or something to do.”
“You can also visit The Northern Quarter and have a drink in places like The Grand, Punch Tarmey’s, or Sinclair’s. There’s also the Southport Market for a bite to eat and a nice family atmosphere”
Joel has lived in Southport most of his life, but after starting a family together, he and his partner were faced with an important decision.
“My partner is from Toronto, Canada and when we were discussing whether to stay here or to move there, I just felt like Southport had a lot to offer in terms of safety.
“I feel comfortable with my young daughter growing up in an area where she will be able to go out, go for a walks.”
“Southport has a lot to offer people who are looking for a nice, affordable family life."
Southport boasts picture-postcard suburbs (think Churchtown or Birkdale) and ever-increasing town centre living options.
“We're not far away from connections to the big cities, so you can easily commute from here.
“In terms of an investment or a purchase for the long term, buying a house somewhere like here where you're going to pay less of a premium than you are in a city, it is well worth doing.
“If you're coming here and you're looking to buy, there are always properties available.”
“If you're looking for a one-bedroom flat all the way to a five or six-bedroom house. Southport has something to offer at every stage.
We asked Joel for the one piece of advice he would offer to people that are considering a move to Southport.
His reply? “Do it.”
