Tapper's : The cosy Northern Quarter cafe that's a favourite with locals
Bagels, pancakes, sandwiches, and much more...
The family-run Tapper’s Cafe is one of the longest established cafes in Southport town centre.
The beautiful venue, on the corner of Union Street and Castle Street, just off Lord Street in the Northern Quarter, celebrates its 15th birthday in April 2025.
It has become a popular fixture with a growing band of regulars in the vibrant ‘Northern Quarter’ since it opened in April 2010.
Named after owner Catherine Tapper, Tapper's is an independent, cosy cafe bar which is famous for its brunch and lunch menus.
The pastrami bagel is a must-try and the choice of American-style pancakes will leave you salivating!
The coffee is another reason to stop by, sourced from independent Liverpool-based roasters Adams and Russell. Full floor to ceiling windows bring light flooding into the building, making Tapper's a perfect spot to watch the world go by.
There is a delicious afternoon tea menu which includes two mini bagels of your choice; home-made sausage roll or cheese pastries; chips, fresh fruit scone; a selection of home-made cakes and fancies; and a pot of tea or coffee. You could add a glass of prosecco.
Tapper’s was refurbished during lockdown and now has a fantastic outdoor cobbled area where guests can sit back and enjoy the afternoon sun.
The venue is also perfectly placed for hosting private events such as baby showers, hen-dos, family or work celebrations, yoga classes, business meetings, Christmas parties and more.
Catherine Tapper said: “This is such a great end of town with everything that is happening with the Northern Quarter.
“There has been huge investment in recent years and we are excited to see even more happening.
“It’s a lovely part of town to come and explore.”
