Southport PubWatch Wishes All a Safe and Enjoyable Christmas

Posted 17 December 2025

Southport PubWatch venues are wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable Christmas and new year.

The organisation includes a growing number of pubs, bars, nightclubs, hotels and other night-time venues in Southport town centre, who are committed to maintaining a safer environment for both customers and staff of licensed premises.

There are currently 36 active venues, who give up their time freely to meet and discuss the best ways to ensure nights out in the town centre are fun and safe for all.

They are actively supported by Southport BID, Merseyside Police and Sefton Council’s Licensing team.

Information relating to incidents linked to licensed premises is gathered, collated and shared via Schemelink, a communication platform which allows members to share vital intelligence and information.

The collective works on projects and initiatives that champion safety and security and is open to all licensed premises within Southport town centre.

Under the ‘Barred From One, Barred From All’ scheme, anyone responsible for violent, anti-social, or alcohol-related behaviour can be considered for a Pubwatch ban, potentially resulting in denied entry to all participating venues.

The group also organises training courses on vital on issues such as first aid, vulnerability, and bystander intervention.

The scheme is chaired by Geoff Wareham from Mikhail Hotel And Leisure Group and the Pubwatch co-ordinator is Luke Randles, Head of Operations at Southport BID.

In addition to Merseyside Police’s continued support, Chief Superintendent Natalie Perischine has attended recent meetings to discuss current trends and issues within the sector.

Closer co-operation between Southport PubWatch members has also led to some exciting new opportunities and ideas to enhance the night-time economy.

One of these was the idea to create the new Southport Beer Week festival, which returns for a second year in May 2026.
