Can you feel it? Spring is in the air in Southport...
Varying shades of green are returning to the trees in Victoria Park and the motor boats are cruising the Marine Lake one again.
May in Southport is all about making the most of the improving weather and those oh-so precious bank holidays. It's a great month for weekend days out and trips into the town centre with family and friends.

Food and Drink Festival
30 May - 1 June
Hungry hoards will descend on Victoria Park for Southport’s annual celebration of food, drink, and produce. Expect a huge range of local and national food vendors, cocktails, and live entertainment throughout the bank holiday weekend.
Locals love to spend a relaxing day at the Festival; sampling a mixture of dishes before heading back into town for further refreshments.
Twitching Season
Southport is an idyllic destination for a spot of birdwatching and the wetlands of the Marshside RSPB site are situated immediately north of Southport town centre.
Watch as Lapwings and other nesting birds find home on the islands of the saltmarsh. There are hides, viewing platforms, trails, and tranquil views stretching out over the Ribble Estuary.
Southport Beer Week
22 - 25 May
The first ever town-wide beer festival is a perfect opportunity to discover (or re-discover) Southport's great pubs and to taste some brilliant real ales.
Beer lovers can take the Beer Week ale trail, trying different beers and collecting stamps at venues as they go. Complete the trail and be win in with the chance of winning some great prizes.
Sailing Open Days
West Lancashire Yacht Club are hosting open days on 5 May and 26 May, where people can try sailing on the Marine Lake for free.
There's barbeque food and lots of family fun on offer too; making this a great day out on or off the water.
The Sefton Open
5 April - 31 May
This inspiring annual exhibition celebrates artists and creatives from all across Sefton.
Spend an afternoon at The Atkinson, taking in around 800 artworks that are on display this year. You can vote for your favourite too, with the winner being awarded The People's Prize.
Adventure Golf
With warmer weather arriving and Bank Holidays to fill with fun, why not dust off the putting stroke and head for a game of adventure golf with friends.
Play amongst runes and longships at the extraordinary Viking Golf or take on the classic course at The Masters Putting, navigating windmills and loop-the-loops.
