Southport has become a haven for crate diggers in recent years.
The town centre is home to a selection of independent record shops that make Southport a must-visit for record collectors and music enthusiasts.
New venues have opened as the vinyl market continues to grow across the UK. 2024 saw 6.7 million albums sold and marked the 17th consecutive year for growth in albums sales.
Considering the size of our town, Southport really is a treat for fans of vinyl. The record shops listed below are all run by passionate, local owners and are all within easy walking distance of each other.
So if you're looking for a place to spend a soulful Saturday afternoon...visit the record shops of Southport town centre.

Quicksilver Music
Quicksilver is a treasure trove for music lovers, specialising in an extensive range of both new and used vinyl and CD.
The shop itself is perfectly placed at the heart of the Market Quarter, surrounded by fellow independent businesses, cafes, and Southport Market.
Owner and musician Dave Thornley is well-known for his chucklesome Facebook videos, where he provides updates on new stock and provides an insight into the day-to-day life of owning a record store.
Legacy Vinyl
Based right in the heart of Southport town centre, this record shop has one of the biggest music collections in the North West.
Owner Alex claims to have circa 250,000 vinyl records in his collection and Legacy Vinyl has a seemingly endless choice of rock, 80's pop, classic, jazz, and much more.
Though the huge selection might be daunting, Alex is always happy to offer advice and is an expert on all things rock and metal.

Vinylfinders
Paul from Vinylfinders has enjoyed a lifelong obsession with music, spending his life collecting records and working in different roles within the industry.
His record shop is based on colourful Wesley Street, surrounded by unique and independently-owned businesses. There's a large a selection of both vinyl and CD on offer, including rarities of rock, jazz, soul and much more.
Vintage music memorabilia is also a speciality, alongside printed works such as magazines, wall art, and signed posters.

Bonus Track Vinyls
The newest addition to Southport's vinyl scene opened in Winter 2024 and offers a large assortment of vinyl albums, singles, and CD's.
Owner Howard is always happy to chat music and pass on recommendations. Spend some time browsing (and buying) at the Union Street shop, before treating yourself to a coffee at Tappers or a pint a neighbouring pub The Guesthouse.
Alternative venues
Though it may not be there sole focus like the shops above, there are even more places in Southport that offer vinyl and music-related items.
Parkinson's Bookshop sell a range of second-hand records and CD's, alongside thousands of books and collectibles. The iconic shop also hosts popular Audio Book music events around the town centre.
You'll also find a selection of records at MIH Bazaar in Cambridge Walks and at The Royal Arcade on Lord Street.
