Discover Cambridge Walks
A community of independent businesses in the heart of Southport town centre.
Despite Cambridge Walks central location, visitors could easily miss this treasure trove of independent businesses.
Entrance points on Eastbank Street (next to The Entertainer) and via Cambridge Arcade will lead you to a shopping arcade, with units occupied by a diverse mix of quirky shops and services.
A group of passionate business owners who embrace community spirit have turned the Walks into a hive of activity.
Culture hotspot The Atkinson are neighbours (accessible via a set of doors at the rear) and you can sense the spill over of creativity into the Walks. Local artists are displayed in the Cambridge Walks Gallery. A piano (inspired by the hit Channel-4 show) is available for musical passers-by to play.
There’s also events such as the monthly ‘Artisan Fair’, which brings together other local traders for a day of shopping and activities.
This investment from local businesses, recent improvements to Cambridge Arcade, and with work underway on the neighbouring Enterprise Hub, you can expect even more exciting things on the horizon in Cambridge Walks in the near future.
The businesses of Cambridge Walks
MIH Bazaar sits as the central point of the arcade; a funky emporium that stocks a huge selection of retro items and unique wares. You’ll find antiques, shabby-chic clothing, bespoke and one-off jewellery, and much more.
Opposite is a cooperative gift shop specialising in hand-made items, local artworks, and often houses different independent vendors.
Neighbours Make it Workshop CIC are not-for-profit haberdashery selling vintage items and offering repairs on a number of items. It’s certainly worth taking some time to browse their collection of rare novelty phones.
There’s also the team from Ebb and Flow, who have gained a reputation for quality, modern tattoo art and a commitment to sustainable and ethical practices. Merch, prints, and original paintings are also available at the studio.
The Bike Workshop is a community-focused not-for-profit outfit that offers a repair service, as well as selling bikes and accessories. Whatever your need, cycle expert Ray will make sure you are looked after.
Tap and Bottles is the place where many of the aforementioned come together for a drink at the end of the day. Having celebrated their tenth anniversary in 2024, the Tap is now a mainstay of the Southport pub/bar scene, offering a wide selection cask ales and craft beers.
Neighbouring Cambridge Arcade is also home to even more independent businesses. The Hungry Monk is a much-loved restaurant with an extensive menu and famous tribute nights that fill the area with music. Florists Aaron Mark Floral Design and jewellers Osiris Antiques are both well-established local retailers.
